Generally speaking, we all know that the sweet pencil skirt, once known mainly for the corporate setting has evolved tremendously over the decades. Today, it comes in an array of styles – from lace to leather, bold prints, cuts, colors and textures…without a doubt, it’s much more fun, sportier, edgier and sexier these days.

I came across this green pencil high waisted skirt with a flirty little front slit when I was accidentally on ASOS (as if going on ASOS was ever an accident). The wet-look fabric slightly resembles leather from afar but it’s a lightweight polyester material that stretches. And ladies, I know you agree clothes that stretches are pretty darn amazing! When it comes to form fitting skirts, I normally have to get the waist taken in so I really appreciate that this skirt fits true to size while the material stretches comfortably in the hips and legs… and believe me when I say this skirt is like the push-up bra for your booty. :)

For the price, it’s very well made and is extremely comfortable that I ordered both the black and green!

The options for styling a pencil skirt is no longer restricted to it’s once one-and-only counterpart, the button up shirt. I love juxtaposing the polished silhouette with different looks such as a crop sweater, a fitted peplum, a tank and leather vest or just a loose t-shirt.

Via my instagram, I called these looks (left to right) “Sassy, Classy, Edgy and Easy Breezy.” I was in a sassy mood so I went with look #1. :)

Which look is your favorite?

Over the years, tulle skirts has definitely captured a big space in my heart (and my closet). Not only are they whimsical, romantic and fun to wear, there’s something magical about them that instantly makes me feel like a princess. Since it’s not every day that a regular girl becomes a princess, I guess I can pretend whenever I wear this.

I wore this over the weekend to a local all white fashion show hosted by the San Francisco Bay Area Fashion Network (SFBAfn), but wanted to add some colors to my outfit. I played around with jewel tones and wanted to use the gorgeous hues of blue, pink and green, which of course made me wish for spring to hurry and come…Don’t be fool by the gorgeous sunshine during the day, because the temperature always drop significantly in SF at night, so I traded my crochet crop top for a cozy little sweater.

I’ve been meaning to wear these perfectly crochet neon shorts all summer and finally decided to take it out to play before the weather gets cold. Speaking of cold, I feel the air getting a little more crisp and the wind a bit more chilly in the evenings. I don’t know about you but I’ll be in some deep pooh when the weather gets cold. Everything I have seems to be shorts, skirts and more shorts. I guess it’s time to figure out what items I need to invest in for fall… Can’t summer just last forever?

Well at least it’s Friday! Don’t work too hard! :) xo

In the Mix

Matching? Not on this blog! :)

What I absolutely adore about fashion as of late is seeing a lot of fab ladies (and let’s not forget the fashionable men out there) around the globe letting go of preconceived boundaries in favor of experimentation. Everything is getting brighter, bolder, and louder. Although it’s not a brand spanking new trend, one popular product of this movement is mixing patterns: Polka dots, stripes, floral, and animal prints are a few of my favorite patterns to play with…I love floral and stripes so it was natural to mix these two patterns together.

What are your favorite prints to mix?

Yea yea I know, an alien is about to pop out of my tummy any minute now.

I’m madly in love with the fullness of this skirt. When I first saw it on ASOS I knew it’s a piece I had to add to my wardrobe… It’s fun, girlie and something I’ll wear many times. With the skirt being high waisted and very mini-ish, it gives the illusion that my legs are longer than they really are. Plus the camel color pumps help elongate the legs.

Speaking of ASOS, this is quite embarrassing but it took me awhile to realize the correct pronunciation of the popular online store’s name. I have been calling it A-S-O-S (saying each letter) instead of Ay-SOS! My bestie and I even jokingly made fun of someone who pronounced it Ay-SOS (the nerve of us!).
