Nate and I spent last weekend in Carmel to unwind, check out some local shops, did a little wine tasting, dine at some of our favorite restaurants when he first moved out here from New York and we even tried to take a walk on the beach. Yeah, the latter was bad idea. It was very cold! Even though the sun was gorgeously shining, the temperature was nowhere near warm and I can feel the chilly breeze furiously blowing against my leggings. Luckily I was layered on top with a thermal tee, a chambray top and knit wool sweater that kept me pretty cozy for most of the day…

This weekend we’ll be staying in Vegas for business but I’m very excited to check out the shops and eat my heart out at all of our favorite restaurants. We typically like to stay on the strip but if you’re ever going on a busy weekend and want to stay in Vegas on a budget, two of my favorite off the strip hotels (but very close by) are the Orleans Casino Hotel and the Platinum Hotel & Suites which is a gorgeous boutique hotel with suites from 950 to 2,200 sq feet for a fraction of the price compared to most hotels on the strip.

I hope whatever you decide to do this weekend, you’re spending it with someone you love. Have a warm and wonderful long weekend!

After my failed attempts to purchase this and this from the H&M x Maison Martin Margiela collection, I almost went for THIS, but (fortunately) someone talked me out of this duvet/sleeping bag/camping tent/Eskimo suit. Disappointed that I’ll be going home empty handed, until I came across this gorgeous sparkler of a sequin skirt which completely cheered me up and made me forget who MMM was. What can I say, I’m a sucker for things that sparkles.

Hope you’re Monday is going great so far! This is going to be a short week (so excited) and I’m looking forward to spending time with family on Thanksgiving day and eating all the delicious home cook food!

Instant Pick-Me-Up

Stumbled upon this hidden gem during a weekend stroll at Stanford. I can’t believe I have been living in the SF bay area (Palo Alto) for well over a decade and never knew there was a place like this. A little island in the middle of downtown Palo Alto filled with life size cacti, palm trees and abundance of sunlight. Geez, I need to get out more!

Leopard print booties has been on my wish list for years and I’m happy to say that the search has finally ended with this Stuart Weitzman leopard ankle boots. After the endless debates, mainly with myself (and my poor friend Sab who I’ve sent a gazillion photos to :). I’d finally decided to pull the trigger and couldn’t be any happier. The exotic boots with it’s extremely soft all over calf hair and back tassel details makes a bold statement, nicely juxtaposing my pretty basic ensemble.  It’s no wonder leopard is an instant pick-me-up…when nothing seems to work, put leopard on it!

Print Mixology

I have been wearing a lot of solids and muted colors lately, and I’m kinda missing my bold prints and bright colors. For now, I’ll play with simple patterns: leopard and stripes with a dab of chevron mixed in.

I remember seeing my closet a few years ago filled of stripes, dots, floral and animal prints but never thought to mixed them together. Nowadays mixing patterns and prints has no boundaries. There are all sorts of tips out there on how to mix prints…but I think the key in making prints flow together is the wearer’s attitude and confidence. I’ve seen  3-4-5-even 6 different prints, wildly worn together that made my head spun…somehow the person wearing it made it work. I think all 6 would make me look like I just escaped the madhouse, but I’d love to experiment more with exotic and ikat prints. Do you think attitude is everything when it comes to fashion?

The Sweetest Thing

I’m a huge fan of pretty little headpieces and this floral halo wreath is the perfect combination of whimsical and romance that adds a touch of sweetness to any outfit. Plus, I’m dying to be a flower girl at my friend’s wedding, if her daughter decide to bail, I’m volunteering to take her place (hint, hint) :)

I was in the mood to release my inner boho spirit so my floral halo headpiece was the perfect accessory to accompanied this sweet chiffon wide leg pleated pants that looked like it could be a maxi skirt. I was fooled by it too until I saw my bestie wore it in green. I think these pants are so lovely and perfect fit for lounging around in warm weather. Although it’s super long but the alterations was quite simple and the sheer material will require you to wear shorts underneath. It also comes in black, green and burgundy and I may get the black ones too.

What do you think of these pants?
